Tamil Nadu Under-19 men’s cricket team defeated Gujarat in the 2024-25 Cooch Behar Trophy, edging out Gujarat in a thrilling final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Winning the toss, Gujarat elected to bat first and amassed 380 runs. Maulyarajsinh Chavda’s impressive 161-run knock anchored their innings. However, disciplined bowling from Tamil Nadu kept the score manageable.

In response, Tamil Nadu displayed strong batting, with contributions from B K Kishore, R S Ambrish, and R K Jayant leading with 413 runs. This significant first-innings lead put Tamil Nadu in a commanding position.

Gujarat declared their second innings at 172 for 7, setting Tamil Nadu a target of 120 runs. However, with the title already secured, Tamil Nadu played cautiously, ending the match at 55 for 1 with ample overs remaining. Both teams then agreed to a draw.

This victory solidifies Tamil Nadu’s position as a leading junior team in the country and will undoubtedly motivate the players in their future cricketing endeavors.
