T20 WC: India’s semifinal qualification in trouble after WI’s massive win?

West Indies on Monday scored 2nd highest total in the history of the T20 World Cup by scoring 254 runs and defeated Zimbabwe by 107 runs, a margin that meant trouble for the Indian team to qualify for the semis .

After the huge win against Zimbabwe, the West Indies' net run rate has reached +5.35. South Africa has been pushed to second place. This challenge has become much bigger for both India and South Africa now. After losing the first match against South Africa by 76 runs, India's run rate is -3.8. 

In the Super-8, 8 teams have been divided into two groups. Only the top-2 teams from each group will enter the semi-finals. Right now, the situation in both groups stands at–

In Group-1, the West Indies and South Africa are in the first two positions. While India is in third and Zimbabwe is in fourth position. Group-2, England and Pakistan are in the top-2.

What does India have to do to reach the semifinals?

If India wants to reach the semi-finals, they will have to win their two matches, firstly against Zimbabwe and the West Indies, and then they should also try to win with huge margins. They will also have to pray that South Africa beat the West Indies on February 26.
