Shikhar Dhawan announces engagement to girlfriend Sophie Shine on Insta post

Former India opener Shikhar Dhawan has announced his engagement to girlfriend Sophie Shine on Instagram on Monday, January 12. Shikhar and Sophie have been dating for a while after confirming their relationship last year on May 1.

Earlier this year, Dhawan and Sophie were seen together during a Champions Trophy match in Dubai. The duo were also present at a media conclave, where the former India opener had hinted that he had found love once again.

"From shared smiles to shared dreams. Grateful for the love, the blessings and every good wish for our engagement as we choose togetherness forever," said Shikhar on Instagram sharing the news.

Who is Sophie Shine?

As per her LinkedIn profile, Sophie is an Irish product consultant currently working as Second Vice President – Product Consultant at Northern Trust Corporation, a US-based financial services firm. Reports suggest that she and Shikhar Dhawan met in the UAE, where Sophie is presently based.

Sophie holds a qualification in Marketing and Management from the Limerick Institute of Technology and completed her earlier education at Castleroy College in Ireland. She is constantly part of the hilarious videos that Shikhar posts on his Instagram profile.

Shikar Dhawan  is one of the best limited over openers of his generation who announced his retirement from both domestic and international cricket on August 24,2024. He scored 6793 runs  with 17 centuries and 39 half - centuries in his 167 ODIs. Dhawan is also among the most prolific Indian batters of all time in T20Is, scoring 1759 runs in 68 matches with 11 half-centuries at a strike rate of 126.36.He also played 34 Tests in which he scored 2315 runs including seven centuries and five half-centuries.

Past relationship of Shikar

Dhawan and his estranged wife, Aesha Mukherjee, officially separated in October 2023, ending their 11-year marriage. The former India opener had married Aesha in 2011; she has two daughters from an earlier marriage. Their relationship, however, broke down after a prolonged period of difficulties.
