Sebastian Vettel Completes First Marathon in Sub-3 Hours, Raises Funds for Charity

Former Formula 1 champion Sebastian Vettel marked an impressive debut in long-distance running by completing his first full marathon in 2:59:08, comfortably finishing under the three-hour mark.
Running alongside F1 journalist Tom Clarkson, Vettel took part in the event to raise funds for the Grand Prix Trust and the Brain & Spine Foundation. The duo surpassed their fundraising target of £5,000, collecting a total of £8,873.
On the same day, Kenyan runner Sabastian Sawe delivered a remarkable performance, finishing the race in under two hours.
Vettel described the marathon as a rewarding and memorable experience, highlighting the energy of the crowd and the challenge of the distance. The 38-year-old, who retired from Formula 1 in 2022, said he had long aimed to complete a marathon and set himself the ambitious goal of finishing under three hours, which he successfully achieved.
Meanwhile, Kenya’s rising long-distance runner Sabastian Sawe has etched his name in history by setting a new world record in the marathon, clocking an astonishing 1:59:30 at the London Marathon, as per reports.
The 29-year-old bettered the previous benchmark set by Eliud Kipchoge, whose 1:59:40 run in 2019 was widely regarded as an unofficial milestone. Sawe’s timing now stands as the fastest ever recorded in an official marathon event.
Sawe has now won all four of his marathon appearances, underlining his dominance over the 26.2-mile distance. He had earlier announced himself on the global stage with a victory in London on debut last year.
