Major Setback For BCA As Pranav Amin’s Nomination Rejected Ahead Of BCCI Election

The Vadodara Cricket Association (BCA) has suffered a setback ahead of the BCCI election scheduled for September 18, with Election Officer A.K. Jyoti rejecting Pranav Amin’s nomination as the association’s representative and ruling that his name cannot be included in the final electoral roll.

Objection Raised Over BCA’s Decision

BCA member Kalpesh Janaksinh Parmar had challenged Amin’s nomination on September 2. He cited the Gujarat High Court’s February 18, 2026 order, arguing that the BCA’s caretaker body is limited to day-to-day and routine administrative work and cannot take major policy decisions or decisions affecting the election process.

The BCA had decided to nominate Amin under Article 15(6) of its Constitution to represent the association at the BCCI’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on September 18.

Caretaker Body’s Authority Questioned

Representing Amin, it was argued that the caretaker body was functioning in accordance with the High Court’s order and had the authority to appoint a representative under the BCA Constitution.

It was also submitted that Amin’s appointment was intended only for the one-time purpose of representing the BCA at the September 18 AGM.

The Election Officer, however, held that the old Apex Council’s term had ended on February 19 and had not been extended. The former office-bearers were permitted to continue only as a caretaker body for routine administrative functions.

According to the order, appointing a representative for the BCCI meeting could not be treated as a day-to-day administrative function. Such a decision required a resolution from a duly constituted Apex Council.

Since there is currently no Apex Council in place, the Election Officer ruled that the resolution passed by the caretaker body could not be treated as valid.

BCA Seeks Clarity On Participation In BCCI Meetings

Pranav Amin said the BCCI AGM and other meetings are important platforms for the BCA to represent its interests. Several matters are listed on the agenda for the upcoming BCCI AGM.

Amin said the Election Officer’s order mainly relates to participation in matters involving voting. The BCA will now seek clarification and guidance from the BCCI on whether its representative can attend and participate in matters that do not involve voting.

The association is expected to decide its next course of action after receiving clarification from the BCCI.
