Lungi Ngidi stable after scary head injury, set to return for Delhi Capitals

There’s a big sigh of relief for Delhi Capitals fans as South African pacer Lungi Ngidi is stable and recovering well after a frightening head injury during the IPL 2026 clash against Punjab Kings.
Ngidi suffered the injury while attempting a catch at mid-off, falling backwards and hitting his head hard on the turf at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The incident brought the game to a halt as medical teams rushed in, with the pacer eventually being stretchered off the field.
In a swift response, Delhi Traffic Police created a green corridor, ensuring Ngidi was transported to the hospital in just 11 minutes. Fortunately, reports confirmed that the injury was not serious, and the pacer is set to be discharged soon.
Ngidi also reassured fans with a short message on Instagram, thanking them for their support and confirming that he is “all good.”
Sources indicate that the fast bowler is expected to rejoin the Delhi Capitals squad shortly and could return to action, providing a crucial boost to DC’s bowling attack in the ongoing Indian Premier League season.
His absence was felt in the match, as Delhi Capitals failed to defend a massive total against Punjab Kings. However, with Ngidi recovering well, DC fans will be hopeful of seeing their key pacer back in action very
