Iconic Indian cricketer Virat Kohli who has a host of records under his belt, created yet another record in the IPL. During Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s match against Chennai Super Kings at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, the prolific batter scored just 28 runs, but that was enough for him to achieve something special.

Kohli now has the most runs scored by any player against a single team in IPL history. He went past Rohit Sharma’s record with this knock. Kohli started the match with 1146 runs against CSK, and after scoring 28 of 18 balls, he reached 1174 runs against the Chennai team. This is now the highest by any player against one team in the league.

Interestingly, Kohli reached this milestone in his 36th match against CSK, which is the same number of matches Rohit took against the Kolkata Knight Riders. Kohli looked a bit slow at the start because the pitch was not easy for batting. In the first few overs, both Kohli and Phil Salt struggled to hit boundaries. Kohli finally broke the pressure with a six over mid-wicket and later added two more boundaries. However, he got out after being caught by Shivam Dube.

In the previous game against Sunrisers Hyderabad, he had scored an unbeaten 69 and helped his team win.

Talking about the match, CSK won the toss and decided to bowl first. RCB came into the game with confidence after winning their first match of the season. On the other hand, CSK were under pressure after losing their last two matches.

RCB posted a huge total of 250/3, with Tim David smashing an unbeaten 70 and strong support from the top order. CSK started well but kept losing wickets at the wrong time and couldn’t match the required run rate. Sarfaraz Khan scored a fighting half-century, but the pressure was too much. In the end, RCB won comfortably by 43 runs with a solid all-round performance.
