FIFA has announced the entertainment line-up for the opening ceremonies of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with global music stars set to perform across the tournament’s three host nations — the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The 2026 edition of the tournament features multiple opening ceremonies staged ahead of the first matches in each host country, marking one of the largest entertainment programmes in World Cup history.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino said the ceremonies would celebrate the cultural identity of each nation while reflecting the tournament’s global unity.

In a statement, Infantino said, “Starting with Mexico City and continuing the next days with Toronto and Los Angeles, these ceremonies will bring together music, culture and football in a way that reflects both the individuality of each nation and the unity that defines this tournament.”

Katy Perry to headline US ceremony

Katy Perry is set to headline the United States opening ceremony at SoFi Stadium on June 12 before the United States faces Paraguay.

The singer confirmed her participation through a social media post announcing her performance at the Los Angeles ceremony.

She will be joined by artists including Future, Lisa, Tyla, Anitta, Rema and DJ Sanjoy.

Mexico ceremony to celebrate local culture

The tournament’s first official opening ceremony will take place on June 11 at Estadio Azteca ahead of Mexico’s opening match against South Africa.

The ceremony will feature performances by J Balvin, Belinda, Maná, Los Ángeles Azules, Alejandro Fernández, Danny Ocean, Lila Downs and Tyla.

FIFA said the Mexico City ceremony would place strong emphasis on Mexican music traditions and cultural heritage.

Canadian ceremony line-up announced

Toronto’s opening ceremony at BMO Field on June 12 will include performances from several Canadian and international artists.

The line-up features Alanis Morissette, Michael Bublé, Alessia Cara, Jessie Reyez, William Prince, Elyanna, Vegedream, Nora Fatehi and DJ Sanjoy.

Shakira returns to World Cup stage

Shakira is also set to return to the World Cup stage nearly a decade after her hit anthem ‘Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)’ became one of football’s most recognisable songs.

The singer recently announced a new World Cup track titled ‘Dai Dai’, featuring Burna Boy. The song is scheduled for release on May 14.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will run from June 11 to July 19 and will be the largest edition of the tournament to date, featuring 104 matches across the three host nations. The opening match will be played in Mexico City, while the final is scheduled to take place in New Jersey.
