IPL 2025 auction: Stars who went unsold in the mega bidding fest

As the IPL 2025 Auction moved onto its culmination on Monday, all franchises looked to give final touches to their squad. However, some prominent names remained unsold throughout the two-day long bidding.

These include David Warner with a base price of ₹2 crore, along with Johnny Bairstow (₹2 crore), Kane Williamson (₹2 crore), Daryl Mitchell (₹2 crore), Mustafizur Rahman (₹2 crore), Naveen-ul-Haq (₹2 crore), Steve Smith (₹2 crore), Alzarri Joseph (₹2 crore), Tim Southee (₹1.50 crore), Sikandar Raza (₹1.25 crore), James Anderson (₹1.25 crore), and Shakib Al Hasan (₹1 crore).

Amnog Indian headliners who weren’t picked by a side were Shardul Thakur, with a base price of ₹2 crore, along with Mayank Agarwal (₹1 crore), Prithvi Shaw (₹75 lakh), Sarfaraz Khan (₹75 lakh), Navdeep Saini (₹75 lakh), and Umesh Yadav (₹2 crore).

Notably, the two-day mega auction witnessed many unprecedented moments including record-breaking ₹27 crore signing of Rishabh Pant by Lucknow Super Giants to the 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi becoming the youngest player to be signed in the tournament.

Ahead of the 2025 season of the IPL, the 10 teams spent ₹639.15 crore to sign 182 players in the auction including 62 overseas.

The 18th edition of the league tournament will commence from March 14, 2025, and will end on May 25. 10 teams will compete in 74 games with their revamped lineups.
