One of the gala events of the cricketing world  - the Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction - takes centre stage for the second day in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Monday.

The auction started from 3.30 pm IST on Monday.

In Sunday’s rally event, a whopping business of ₹467.95 crore took place, which involved 72 players being auctioned to the 10 squads in fray.

Slots and purse available for each franchise:

Punjab Kings, who have made a staggering expenditure of ₹88 crore on the first day of the auction, will hold a remaining purse of ₹22.5 crore to fill 13 spots in their squad.

Chennai Super Kings spent ₹39.40 crore and are left with ₹15.60 crore, Gujarat Titans spent ₹51.50 crore and are left with ₹17.50 crore, Lucknow Super Giants spent ₹54.15 crore and are left with ₹14.85 crore, Mumbai Indians spent ₹18.90 crore and are left with ₹26.10 crore, Sunrisers Hyderabad spent ₹39.85 crore and are left with ₹5.15 crore.

Meanwhile, Royal Challengers Bengaluru spent ₹52.35 crore and are left with ₹30.65 crore, Delhi Capitals spent ₹59.20 crore and are left with ₹13.80 crore, while Kolkata Knight Riders spent ₹40.95 crore and are left with ₹10.05 crore, and Rajasthan Royals spent ₹23.65 crore and are left with ₹17.35 crore.

IPL 2025 Mega Auction

With months of off-field strategy and rigorous scouting, it will all come down to pure business as 10 franchises would look to get the best possible squads for the 2025 season and beyond.

This year’s IPL auction moved to Saudi Arabia for the first time this year, with two days of affairs taking place in the Abady Al Johar Arena in Jeddah. 

In all, 577 players including 367 Indians and 210 overseas will be testing their fate to fill the maximum of 204 slots (70 overseas) available for the upcoming season.

Among Indian players, 48 are capped and the remaining are uncapped professionals while 197 capped overseas and 12 uncapped foreign players will be up for grabs. This year, three players from Associate nations will also test their luck.
