The Men’s Selection Committee announced India’s squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Afghanistan, starting in Mohali on Jan 11.

After much speculations about the Indian Men’s cricket team’s approach to the T20Is with an upcoming World Cup in West Indies and USA, the management has decided to rely on the seniors once again.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, two of the most senior players in the T20 squad, make their return to the team, a possible indicator that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is relying on the veterans to shine once again.

The semifinals in Australia in the last T20 World Cup against England left a bitter taste for the fans, and the feelings were only damaged further with a heartbreak in the home ODI World Cup for India.

Many believed that to be a question mark for Sharma and Kohli’s white ball career, but with this selection, the message is loud and clear.

Moreover, Rohit Sharma will also lead the team, putting an end to passing the parcel of captainship between Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, and at times, Jasprit Bumrah.

India’s squad: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Sanju Samson (wk), Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, Ravi Bishnoi, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan, Mukesh Kumar
