Indian Women's Hockey Team Dominates Singapore 7-0 to Reach Asian Games Semifinals

India’s women’s hockey team completed an unbeaten run in the Asian Games group stage on Sunday, dispatching Singapore 7-0 at the Gifu Prefectural Green Stadium to secure top spot in Pool B and set up a semifinal clash with South Korea.

The Indian side commanded 64 per cent of possession and earned 28 penalty corners across the match, constantly pressuring the Singapore defence. Despite the relentless attacking moves, India went scoreless in the opening quarter as Singapore goalkeeper Felissa Lai turned away multiple early penalty corner attempts.

Second-Quarter Blitz Seals Match Advantage

Captain Salima Tete broke the deadlock in the second quarter with a field goal, opening the floodgates for India's forward line.

Sunelita Toppo doubled the advantage shortly after by converting a penalty corner and added another goal minutes later. Quick conversions by Lalremsiami and Rutuja Pisal pushed India to a commanding 5-0 lead before the half-time break.

Set-Piece Success Secures Semifinal Booking

India maintained firm control in the second half while keeping Singapore from mounting any real threat on goal. Nikki Pradhan converted a penalty corner in the third quarter to make it 6-0.

Deepika capped off the scoring in the final quarter, driving a drag flick from a penalty corner straight into the bottom-right corner. Sunelita Toppo finished as the sole double scorer on a afternoon where six different Indian players found the net, setting up momentum ahead of their knockout tie against South Korea.
