India vs New Zealand: Kohli–Rohit craze peaks as ODI tickets in Vadodara sell out in minutes

The popularity of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma continues to drive huge excitement in Indian cricket. After retiring from T20Is and Tests, their ODI matches have become even more special for fans. This was clear when tickets for the Vadodara ODI against the New Zealand cricket team were sold out in record time.
As per reports, tickets for the first ODI in Vadodara for January 11, were completely sold out within just eight minutes. This shows the massive interest in the three-match home series. The excitement is expected, as both Kohli and Rohit remain among the biggest stars in world cricket and are placed at the top of the ODI batting rankings by the International Cricket Council.
Both batters ended 2025 on a strong note with important performances against Australia and South Africa. Their form in 2026 will be closely watched by head coach Gautam Gambhir and chief selector Ajit Agarkar, especially as India prepares for the 2027 ODI World Cup and looks to bring in younger players.
The senior duo has also stayed active in domestic cricket. They recently played in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, with Rohit representing Mumbai and Kohli playing for Delhi. Rohit scored a century in one match but was dismissed cheaply in another, while Kohli impressed with a hundred and a fifty. Kohli has also made himself available for one more match in the tournament.
With tickets selling out in minutes and fan interest at its peak, the Vadodara ODI once again highlights the huge impact of the Kohli–Rohit era on Indian cricket.
