India has registered its third consecutive victory in the World Cup 2023, beating Bangladesh by 7 wickets in the 17th match of the tournament. 

Earlier, Bangladesh scored 256 runs for 8 wickets in the allotted 50 overs. 

Winning the match by 7 wickets India crossed the target in 42nd over, riding on Virat Kohli’s century.

With Mahmudullah’s 46 off 36 balls, Bangladesh was able to put up a respectable total of 256, giving India the target of 257.

Bangladesh batters crumble as team crosses 200-run mark

Bangladesh somehow manage to achieve the 200-run mark, despite a tremble in the middle overs. Openers Litton Das and Tanzid Hasan struck brilliant knocks of 66(82) and 51(43) respectively, but fell short of India’s spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav.

Jadeja finished his spell with another wicket of the skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto, while Bumrah, Siraj and Thakur got a scalp each of the experienced Mushfiqur Rahim, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Towhid Hridoy respectively.

Bangladesh relies now on Mahmudullah to lead the team to a decent total as the final overs approach.

Bangladesh wins the toss, opts to bat

Having beaten Afghanistan, Australia, and Pakistan, a confident Indian outfit will face Bangladesh, who have won against Afghanistan but lost to England and New Zealand.

Injured Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan, who has an impressive record against India, was not available for today’s match at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune. In place of him, Najmul Hossain Shanto will lead the Bangladeshi side.

India, on the other hand, will field the same team from the last match against Pakistan.
