Gujarat’s Manush wins maiden senior national ranking title

Manush Shah of Gujarat representing RBI, emerged victorious in the men’s singles final at the UTT National Ranking Table Tennis Championships held at the Jimmy George Indoor Stadium, Trivandrum, Kerala, from December 5 to 12.

Manush claimed the title by winning against Ankur Bhattacharjee (PSPB) with the scores reading 11-2, 4-11, 11-7, 8-11, 11-8, 13-11.

Before this, Manush defeated Manav Thakkar of PSPB 10-12, 11-7, 13-10, 8-11, 6-11, 11-7, 11-7 in the semifinals, Yashansh Malik of AAI 3-0 and Manav bt SFR Snehit of IA&AD 3-2 in the quarterfinals.

The match was tied at 2-2 in the early stages, however, Manush managed a  3-2 lead, eventually claiming the national title.

The semifinal between Manush Shah and Manav Thakkar had lasted over an hour, with long rallies and intense exchanges, and at one stage, Manav held 3-2 lead.

The match, however, was won eventually by Manush in the lead at 4-3.
