Watching the FIFA World Cup final live is a dream for many fans, but this year, the ticket prices are shocking. Some resale tickets for the final match at MetLife Stadium on July 19 are being sold for more than $2 million each. In fact, a set of four seats together is listed for around $2,299,998.85 per ticket, which means over $9 million in total.

These seats are located behind the goal in the lower section of the stadium. What’s surprising is that seats just a few rows ahead are much cheaper, priced between $16,000 to $24,000 depending on how close they are to the pitch. Another ticket listed at the same high price is from a Category 3 section, which is almost at the top of the stadium.

All these tickets are being sold on the official FIFA resale platform. Here, fans who already have tickets can sell them at any price they want. FIFA does not fix the resale price, but it does take a 15% commission from both the buyer and the seller.

According to FIFA, the resale platform is safe and transparent for fans. However, many people are shocked seeing such high prices. The cheapest resale ticket for the final is now close to $11,000, while wheelchair-accessible seats are around $15,000.

Interestingly, FIFA had recently released some official tickets at around $10,990, which were already considered expensive. This has raised questions because the tournament was earlier said to be the most affordable World Cup.

FIFA has said that ticket pricing depends on demand and that the money earned will be used for the development of football worldwide.
