Former England captain David Beckham has become the United Kingdom’s first billionaire sportsman, as per the 2026 Sunday Times Rich List. Beckham, alongside his wife Victoria Beckham, now has a combined net worth of £1.185 billion ($1.4bn).

Beckham’s wealth is driven as much by boardroom decisions as by his legendary football career. The former Manchester United midfielder is a co-owner of Inter Miami CF, currently valued at £1.07bn, making it one of the most valuable franchises in Major League Soccer. Off the pitch, he continues to command global influence through partnerships with brands like Adidas and Hugo Boss. Meanwhile, his wife Victoria has built a successful fashion label after rising to fame with the Spice Girls.

Meanwhile, Jim Ratcliffe, co-owner of Manchester United, has slipped from seventh to ninth in the UK overall rankings after his wealth declined by £1.85 billion to £15.194 billion.

The Rich List also features other major names in global sport. Northern Ireland golfer Rory McIlroy is ranked seventh with £325 million after back-to-back wins at the Masters Tournament. Seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton stands fifth with £435 million. England football captain Harry Kane and tennis star Andy Murray are tied at tenth with £110 million each.
