Cricketer Smriti Mandhana is now a ‘Barbie doll’

Indian women’s cricket star Smriti Mandhana has been named in Barbie’s first-ever ‘Dream Team’ initiative. The announcement was made by Mattel, the company behind the iconic Barbie brand, on March 5 ahead of International Women’s Day, celebrating women with historic milestones in their respective fields.
Mandhana is the first cricketer in the world to be honoured with a Barbie doll created in her likeness. The tribute recognises her remarkable contributions to women’s cricket and her role as an inspiration for young athletes around the world.
The 29-year-old leading left-handed batter has earned global recognition for her performances and leadership.
The Dream Team initiative celebrates women who have broken barriers and created new opportunities in their fields.
Mandhana joins a group of global achievers in the campaign, including tennis legend Serena Williams, who holds 23 Grand Slam singles titles, the most by any player in the Open Era.
Smriti Mandhana said she is still “processing the moment” after receiving a Barbie doll inspired by her journey.
Cricket has given her a lot and hopes her story inspires young girls to believe they belong on the field and dream bigger, said Mandhana.
