Cricketer Bajwa’s appointment as Canada captain under scanner, report alleges Bishnoi gang influence

A report claimed that Dilpreet Bajwa, an Indian-origin cricketer, appointed as Canada’s captain may have been influenced by gangster Lawernce Bishnoi. It alleged that team management was under pressure to appoint Bajwa as captain while players who opposed the decision were reportedly threatened. 

Recently, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has launched an investigation on Cricket Canada over allegedly breaching its anti-corruption code after a documentary reportedly aired in the country which alleges corruption. 

The match of Canada’s against New Zealand is also under scrutiny of ICC over the allegation of match-fixing. Then, another report claims that the appointment of Bajwa as Canada's captain had been influenced by gangster Bishnoi, raises questions over Canadian cricket. 

The report states that some players and team management  were pressured to make Bajwa as captain. Those players who opposed his appointment were allegedly intimidated through messages linked to the gangster Bishnoi’s name. It also alleges the growing influence of corruption and illegal activities within the team. 

Lawrence Bishnoi, high profile-Indian gangster, alleged leader of transnational crime syndicate. Despite being in prison since 2014, he reportedly operates a network of over 700 shooters across India and abroad via encrypted communication. His name surfaced globally after the murder of Punjabi singer Siddhu Moosewala, for which his gang claimed responsibility.
