A delegation from Commonwealth Sport has arrived in Gujarat  to review and assess preparations for the 2030 Commonwealth Games proposed to be hosted in Ahmedabad and other parts of the state.

The visit, led by Commonwealth Sport president Donald Rukare, includes a five-member team that will be in Gujarat from April 8 to 11, along with officials from the Indian Olympic Association.

During their visit, the delegation is scheduled to conduct site inspections of venues identified for the 2030 Games, including the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex, Narendra Modi Stadium, EKA Arena in Ahmedabad, Vadodara Cricket Stadium, and Ekta Nagar’s Statue of Unity.

The delegation including Rukare and CEO Katie Sadleir began its Gujarat tour with a meeting with Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel in Gandhinagar.

The CM assured the delegation and the Indian Olympic Association that the state government would provide all necessary infrastructure and facilities in a time-bound manner to ensure the successful organisation of the 2030 Commonwealth Games.

The Commonwealth Sport leadership also invited the chief minister to attend the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow from July to August for observation and planning purposes. Patel accepted the invitation and confirmed that a Gujarat delegation would visit Glasgow to study the preparations.
