Asian Games: India’s Medal Tally Reaches 6 After Men’s Shooting Team Bags Three Medals and Suchika Tariyal Wins MMA Bronze in Nagoya

India’s medal tally at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games reached six on Monday after the country added three shooting medals and a bronze in women’s MMA, including a team silver in the men’s 10m Air Rifle.

Himanshu Dhillon won silver and Rudrankksh Patil secured bronze in the individual event, while the duo joined Parth Mane to win silver in the men’s 10m Air Rifle team event. Suchika Tariyal also claimed bronze in women’s traditional 60kg MMA.

Indian Shooters Deliver Three Medals

The Indian men’s 10m Air Rifle team of Rudrankksh Patil, Himanshu Dhillon and Parth Mane combined to win silver, taking India’s shooting medal haul to three on Monday.

Himanshu then secured silver in the individual final with 252.4 points, while Rudrankksh took bronze with 230.9 points.

China’s reigning Olympic champion Sheng Lihao won gold with a Games Record score of 254.2 points, successfully defending his title.

Rudrankksh made a strong start in the eight-man final, leading the field after the opening 10 shots with 106.0 points. Sheng was second on 104.9, while Himanshu followed closely on 104.8.

The Indian shooters continued to occupy the top two positions as the elimination rounds began. Rudrankksh maintained the lead, while Himanshu moved into second after producing a series of high scores, including successive 10.9s.

India Assured of Double Podium

The lead changed hands several times as Sheng gradually closed the gap.

With four shooters remaining, India was assured of a double podium after Mongolia’s Bayaraa Nyantai was eliminated. Sheng led with 211.6 points, followed by Rudrankksh on 210.6 and Himanshu on 210.0.

The contest for silver and bronze then became an all-Indian battle behind Sheng.

Himanshu moved clear of Rudrankksh after producing a 10.8, while Rudrankksh managed 9.7 to drop to third. He responded with a 10.6 on the next elimination shot, but Himanshu held his position with a 10.4.

Sheng sealed the gold with a final 10.6, finishing on 254.2 points and setting a new Games Record.

Himanshu finished second with 252.4 points, while Rudrankksh’s total of 230.9 earned him bronze.

Suchika Tariyal Adds MMA Bronze

Suchika Tariyal secured a bronze medal in the women’s traditional 60kg MMA event against Singapore’s Teo Hui Hoon.

The contest ended in a draw, but Tariyal was unable to progress to the final after a weight-based rule was applied to determine the finalist. The decision sent the Singaporean through to the title bout, leaving Tariyal with bronze.

The four medals won on Monday — three in shooting and one in MMA — took India’s overall medal tally to six at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.

India Continue Winning Run in Events
