Asian Games 2026: India Win Shooting Gold And Silver On Day 7; Suruchi-Kamaljeet Set Asian Record

Nagoya, September 25: India added two medals to its tally on Day 7 of the 2026 Asian Games, with Suruchi Inder Singh and Kamaljeet winning gold in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event, while Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Niraj Kumar and Rudrankksh Patil claimed silver in the men’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions team event.

The shooting medals take India’s tally to 19 medals — 2 gold, 8 silver and 9 bronze. India had entered Day 7 with 17 medals, including one gold, seven silver and nine bronze. 

Shooting

Suruchi And Kamaljeet Win Gold With Asian Record

Suruchi Inder Singh and Kamaljeet produced a record-breaking performance to win the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team gold, finishing with an Asian record score of 484.6.

South Korea’s Suhyeon Hong and Gaeun Choo won silver with 478.0, while Iran’s Haniyeh Rostamiyan and Vahid Golkhandan took bronze with 415.8.

The Indian pair had earlier topped qualification with 587 points and 29 inner 10s, breaking the Asian Games qualification record of 577 set by Sarabjot Singh and Divya Subbaraju at Hangzhou 2023.

Their qualification score also equalled the Asian record set by Saurabh Chaudhary and Manu Bhaker in 2021.

Aishwary, Niraj And Rudrankksh Win Rifle Silver

Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Niraj Kumar and Rudrankksh Patil secured silver in the men’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions team event with a combined score of 1762-94x.

China won gold with 1766-95x, while South Korea took bronze with 1751-87x.

The Indian trio scored 587 in the two kneeling series, followed by 593 in the prone stage before adding 582 in standing to finish on 1762-94x.

Aishwary and Niraj also qualified for the individual final. Aishwary finished third in qualification with 589-34x, while Niraj was fourth with 588-34x. Rudrankksh finished ninth with 585-26x.

Table Tennis

Diya Chitale and Manush Shah defeated Hong Kong’s Wong Chun Ting and Doo Hoi Kem in the mixed doubles quarterfinals to assure India of a medal.

Harmeet Desai and Yashaswini Ghorpade, meanwhile, lost their mixed doubles quarterfinal against China’s Lin Shidong and Kuai Man.

Squash

Joshna Chinappa and Velavan Senthilkumar assured India of another medal after defeating the Philippines’ David Pelino and Jemyca Aribado in the mixed doubles quarterfinals and booking their place in the semifinals.

Hockey

India’s women’s hockey team registered a 3-1 win over Japan in their Pool B match.

Badminton

Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto defeated Maldives’ Aminath Abdul Razzaq and Nibal Ahmed in the mixed doubles first round.

Canoe Sprint

Prohit Baroi and Prasanna Kumar finished fifth in Semifinal 1 of the men’s kayak double 500m event and will compete in Final B.

Megha Pradeep and Neha Leichonbam finished fourth in Semifinal 1 of the women’s canoe double 500m event and were eliminated.

Swimming

Rishabh Das finished fourth and Utkarsh Patil ninth overall in the men’s 200m backstroke heats, with both progressing to the final.

Dhanush Suresh finished seventh in his heat and 21st overall in the men’s 50m breaststroke and missed out on the final.

Aneesh Sunil finished 17th and Dhakshan Shashikumar 18th in the men’s 400m freestyle heats.

Athletics

Anamika Aneesh finished sixth and Pooja tenth in the women’s heptathlon long jump. They remain seventh and ninth respectively in the overall standings.

Fencing

Aditya, Hemash Singh, Tejas Patil and Sachin lost to Hong Kong in the men’s team foil round of 16.

In the women’s epee team event, Anupriya, Mitva Chaudhari, Tanishka Khatri and Yashkeerat Kaur lost to Uzbekistan in the round of 16.

With the two shooting medals added on Friday, India now have 19 medals at the 2026 Asian Games:
