Afghanistan star leg-spinner Rashid Khan has announced his second marriage, sharing the news through a heartfelt post on social media.

In a post shared recently, Rashid wrote, “On August 2nd 2025, I began a new and meaningful chapter of my life. I had my nikkah done and married a woman who embodies the love, peace, and partnership I always hoped for.”

“I recently took my wife to a charity event and it’s unfortunate to see assumptions being made from something so simple. The truth is straightforward — she is my wife and we stand together with nothing to hide. To everyone who has shown kindness, support and understanding, thank you,” he added.

Rashid’s second wife is a UK-based Afghan woman, as per reports.

Notably, Rashid’s first marriage took place in October 2024 in Kabul, when three of his brothers Amir Khalil, Zakiullah, and Raza Khan also tied the knot on the same night.

The announcement comes months after Rashid opened up about his struggle with injury and recovery. Speaking to ESPNcricinfo in August, he admitted that he made a mistake by returning to competitive cricket too soon following his back surgery, which was done shortly after the 2023 ODI World Cup.

“After IPL, I needed the kind of break where my body gets back to normal. I worked on my strength, but coming back from surgery, I hadn’t had much time to rehab properly. That’s where I made a bit of a mistake — restarting cricket too quickly,” Rashid said.

The 27-year-old led Afghanistan to the semi-finals of the 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup but later suffered back and hamstring issues that ruled him out of the BBL and PSL. He returned in January 2025 for the Test series against Zimbabwe, claiming 11 wickets in Bulawayo to be named Player of the Match.
