An AI platform has screened chest X-rays of 5 million individuals across 20 countries, successfully detecting early signs of lung cancer, as per reports.

The artificial intelligence algorithm – developed through a collaboration between global pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca and Indian health-tech firm Qure.ai – was used to analyze scans from regions where access to advanced diagnostic tools remains limited, including Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America.

This large-scale deployment demonstrates the potential of AI to bridge healthcare gaps in underserved areas by enabling early diagnosis and timely intervention for lung cancer.

Notably, Artificial intelligence (AI) could soon also play a pivotal role in diagnosing and treating genetic disorders, according to a study.

The study, which was led by researchers at the Australian National University (ANU) in Australia, marks a significant step toward more precise, personalised medicine by harnessing the power of new data tools.

Published in Nature Communications, the study combines AI-powered protein models with genome sequencing to better understand how mutations affect human health.
