Meta Platforms is reportedly planning to monitor employee work activity including keystrokes and mouse movements as part of efforts to train and improve its artificial intelligence systems.

As per reports, the move is linked to Meta’s broader push into AI, where the company has been investing heavily in building advanced models. This includes its Meta AI assistant and the Llama series of large language models, which are being integrated across its platforms.

The data collected is expected to help Meta refine how its AI systems understand user behavior, workflows, and digital interactions, potentially improving automation, recommendations, and advertising tools on apps like Facebook and Instagram.

However, as per reports, the plan has raised concerns among employees. One staff member, speaking anonymously, described the idea of tracking even minor computer actions for AI training as ‘very dystopian,’ especially at a time when workers are already anticipating possible job cuts.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has repeatedly highlighted AI as a central pillar of the company’s future strategy. However, the reported monitoring plans, combined with cost-cutting measures, have sparked fresh concerns around employee privacy and job security.
