Meta launches paid subscription plans for Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp

Social media giant Meta has announced new paid subscription plans for its popular apps Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. The company said users across the world will now be able to pay monthly charges to access premium features and advanced tools inside these apps. The new plans are called Instagram Plus, Facebook Plus, and WhatsApp Plus. Along with this.

Meta has fixed separate monthly prices for all three apps. Instagram Plus and Facebook Plus will cost $3.99 (₹330) per month. WhatsApp Plus will cost $2.99 (₹250) per month. 

Features of Instagram, Facebook & WhatsApp plus

The new Instagram Plus and Facebook Plus plans will offer several premium features to users. Subscribers will be able to see how many people rewatched their stories and create unlimited audience lists for stories. Users can also highlight one story every week for extra reach and extend the story visibility beyond the normal 24-hour limit.

The plans also allow users to preview other people’s stories without appearing in the viewer list. Detailed story viewer search options will also be available. Super Heart animated reactions, and extra profile pins.

WhatsApp Plus will focus mainly on personalisation and messaging improvements. Users subscribing to this plan will get custom themes, personalised ringtones, additional pinned chats, list customization options, and premium stickers. 

Why paid plans

Meta reportedly said, the main reason behind these subscription plans is to create new sources of income apart from advertising. Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp already have billions of users worldwide, and user growth has slowed in many regions.

Meta has announced two upcoming AI subscription plans called Meta One Plus and Meta One Premium. Meta One Plus will cost $7.99 (₹767.65) per month, while Meta One Premium will cost $19.99 (₹1,925) per month.

Meta is also preparing special subscription plans for creators and businesses. The Meta One Essential plan, priced at $14.99 (₹1,443.68) per month, will include a verified badge, identity protection, and an advanced linksheet for connecting social media profiles and websites.

The Meta One Advanced plan, costing $49.99 (₹4,802.12) per month, will provide all Essential benefits along with higher visibility in Facebook feeds and Instagram search results. Users will also get advanced analytics, audience insights, scheduling tools, and content protection alerts.

Meta said these professional plans are designed to help creators and businesses grow faster and improve their online reach.
