Iran strike damages Amazon cloud facility in Bahrain: report

Amazon’s cloud operations in Bahrain have reportedly suffered damage following an Iranian strike, according to a report.
The Financial Times’ report citing a person familiar with the matter said the incident caused damage to facilities linked to Amazon Web Services (AWS), though details remain limited.
Bahrain’s interior ministry reportedly said civil defence teams were “extinguishing a fire in a facility of a company as a result of Iranian aggression”, without naming the firm directly.
The development comes days after Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps warned that it could target US companies operating in the region, including major technology firms such as Microsoft, Apple, Google and Meta.
Amazon has not yet issued an official statement on the reported strike. However, its AWS infrastructure in the region has faced disruptions during the ongoing conflict, the report said.
As per reports, last month, the company acknowledged service disruptions in Bahrain and said it was working to restore operations while assisting customers in migrating workloads to alternative regions.
AWS is a critical part of Amazon’s global cloud computing network, supporting websites, businesses and government operations worldwide.
Separately, the IRGC has reportedly issued fresh warnings to several American companies, accusing them of aiding US operations in the region.
As per reports, the group has cautioned 18 US firms, alleging they were acting as “spies” and could be considered potential targets.
