Arvid Bell, former Harvard professor and current CEO and co-founder of Anadyr Horizon, has made bold claims about the potential of artificial intelligence to forecast global conflicts before they erupt.

Taking to LinkedIn, Bell wrote, “Data doesn’t start wars. People do,” while sharing a recent Business Insider article that profiled his work.

In the feature, Bell spoke about North Star, an AI-powered simulation platform developed by his company that aims to predict and ultimately prevent  future wars.

Anadyr Horizon’s North Star software creates ‘digital twins’ of world leaders, simulating their behaviour in response to different geopolitical scenarios, such as economic sanctions or military escalations. These AI models account for various psychological and physiological factors including stress and sleep deprivation to more accurately predict leaders’ decisions under pressure.

According to the article, the tool is designed to help diplomats, strategists, and policymakers anticipate reactions in high-stakes situations, potentially giving them months of early warning to prevent violent escalation.

While the claims are big with the new AI, Bell and his team are optimistic that AI-powered foresight could transform how the world manages emerging threats  not by replacing human judgment, but by enhancing decision-making during moments when time and information
