To much amusement of the school children in Guwahati, an Assam school introduced the first Artificial Intelligence teacher in Northeast India.

Iris, the humanoid AI teacher, was also draped in Mekhela Chador, the traditional attire of the region, and jewellery.

The official X handle of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, shared the video of Iris on the social media platform, stating, “In a groundbreaking move, a school in Assam’s Guwahati has introduced ‘Iris’, Northeast's first humanoid AI teacher. It has been developed in collaboration with Makerlabs Edu-tech under a project initiated by NITI Aayog.”

According to media reports, the students also interacted with Iris with awe, asking her questions related to their curriculum and getting prompt answers from their digital teacher.

The students also shook hands with the teacher, who was surprisingly equipped to perform hand gestures, too, reported the media.

Apart from questions by students, Iris is reportedly equipped to answer them in detail for the questions even outside of the syllabus.
