Astronauts of NASA’s Artemis II mission are now getting ready to return to Earth after their journey around the Moon. According to reports, the crew described the whole experience as “surreal” and something they will never forget.

The four astronauts,  Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch and Jeremy Hansen, have travelled farther than any humans in the last 50 years. Reports say they went more than 4 lakh kilometres away from Earth during the mission.

Victor Glover said they are bringing back a lot of data, photos and memories from the trip. He also spoke about the return journey, saying it will feel like “riding a fireball” as the spacecraft enters Earth’s atmosphere. Reid Wiseman shared that the moment when they lost contact with Earth while passing behind the Moon felt very strange and emotional.

One of the most special moments of the mission was when the astronauts saw a solar eclipse from space. Reports say the Moon completely blocked the Sun, creating a rare and beautiful view.

Now, the main focus is on their safe landing. The Orion spacecraft is expected to land in the Pacific Ocean near San Diego. NASA teams and the US Defence Department are already prepared for the recovery.

Experts say re-entry is the most risky part of the mission. The spacecraft has to enter at the correct angle, and even a small mistake can be dangerous. NASA is also keeping a close watch on the heat shield. Overall, this mission is seen as an important step for future space missions.
