AI to end all diseases? DeepMind CEO makes bold prediction

Demis Hassabis, the CEO of Google DeepMind, an artificial intelligence research laboratory under Alphabet Inc, stated that future AI models could not only help cure diseases but might even lead to the end of all diseases, as per reports.

Talking to a US-based media house, Hassabis reportedly said that on average, it takes around ten years and a billion dollars just to design a drug. AI can reduce that timeline to months or even weeks. This could revolutionize human health. One day, with AI, we might be able to cure all diseases, he claimed.

The statement quickly gained attention, including unexpected support from a competitor – Perplexity AI CEO Aravind Srinivas, who praised Hassabis on social media.

Reacting to the video on X (formerly Twitter), Srinivas wrote,

“Demis is a genius. He should be given all the resources in the world to make it happen.”
