Now, a circular goes viral dissenting the new Rajkot Mayor and other officers’ appointments

A two-page circular went viral on social media, expressing dismay with the appointment of the new office-bearers of the Rajkot municipal commission.

The circular raises concerns over the appointment of the new Rajkot mayor, deputy mayor, chairman, ruling party leader, whip, and 15 committee chairpersons. It alleges that the appointment of these office-bearers was due to their flattery and mingling with some ‘Godfathers’ of the Rajkot BJP.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Gujarat finds itself once again entangled in internal conflicts, this time through a poem in Rajkot that went viral on Aug 24 coinciding with the World Gujarati Language Day.

As the party prepares for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, it faces a series of controversies and dissenting voices that threaten to overshadow its rhetoric and claims of unity.

The friction within the Rajkot faction of the BJP became palpable when a poem created by city party workers went viral on social media.

The poem sharply criticises how the morals of the party’s pioneers, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya and Syama Prasad Mukherjee, no longer resonate in the party lines.

The prose adds that undertaking groundwork while in power, capitalising on the party workers’ prowess, and persistent hard work are all now history for the party.

The further stanzas indicate that, despite being corrupt, some favourites of the higher command can rise easily in the party lines. While honest contributors to the party are sidelined.

The discontent among Rajkot’s BJP workers has been simmering since the announcement of the city's party office-bearers.

This comes just days after a verbal altercation between Jamnagar BJP MLA Rivaba Jadeja and BJP MP Poonam Maadam along with the other city’s BJP workers, indicating the growing internal tensions.

Party high command responds to the viral poem

Regarding the viral poem, Rajkot BJP chief Manish Doshi has stated that there might be some party workers feeling discontent, and they must’ve expressed that.

Doshi has given his assurance that the party will resolve their resentment towards the BJP.

BJP’s internal conflicts

This incident is not isolated; it mirrors the previous ‘pamphlet controversy’ that circulated allegations of corruption against state chief CR Paatil and other party leaders.

As the BJP continues its preparations for the upcoming elections, it faces not only external challenges but also a complex web of internal dissent.
