Who is Anita Anand? Indian-origin in race to replace Trudeau as Canada’s PM
Indian-origin lawyer Anita Anand is a frontrunner in the PM race for Canada alongside key names such as Pierre Poilievre, Chrystia Freeland, Mark Carney, etc.
This comes after Canada’s Justin Trudeau stepped down as PM on Monday.
Amid a major revolt within his party, Trudeau, who has been the leader of the Liberal Party since 2013, and has been serving as the country's PM for more than nine years, announced his decision at a news conference in Ottawa.
Discussions point towards other leaders who might replace Trudeau as Liberal Party leader.
Amid the brewing discussions, 57-year-old transport minister Anita Anand is often touted as one of the more ambitious members of the Liberal caucus, as per BBC.
