What is the ‘No Further Stay’ clause in new Australian visa regulations?

No Further Stay clause in Australia visa

Acting as a jolt to the aspiring students, eyeing to settle in Australia, is the ‘No Further Stay (NFS)’ condition, mandated under the new visa regulations of the Australian government, starting on Mar 23, as the number of immigrants reaches a record level in the island country.

Under the NFS condition, students cannot apply for another visa to extend their stay in Australia (barring a few exceptions).

Students must depart from Australia to make another visa application.

This clause bars foreign students from applying for work visas or permanent residency (PR) while residing in the country.

A visa applicant would require rigorous planning, documentation, and to-and fro travel if they wish to extend their stay in Australia.

This condition addresses a string of visa-related issues, including individuals extending their stay over temporary visas and visa overstays, and imposes adherence to the original visa regulations.

It is noteworthy that the NFS clause is imposed under a few ‘short-term visas’ such as the sponsored family visitor visa, tourist visa, sponsored business visitor visa, and work and holiday visa, among others.

Along with this, the country has introduced stricter English language requirements for students.

The government will also be given the power to suspend the recruitment process of colleges offering admission to international students by violating the rules.

A special ‘Genuine Student Test’ will be conducted to ensure that international students are genuinely coming to the country to study.
