The original post, shared by a Twitter user, accused a large number of ‘Gujjus’ of creating ‘havoc’ overseas and bringing ‘shame to India’ through their actions and lifestyle choices.

The tweet alleged that many Gujarati immigrants struggle with English, display loud and entitled behavior in public, cut lines, litter, and dress inappropriately. The user also recounted a specific incident involving a Gujarati family that reportedly held a noisy street-side wedding celebration in Canada, drawing widespread public attention and making international headlines.

It also sparked controversy due to its sweeping generalisations. “Of course, there are both good and bad people in all cultures,” the tweet stated, “but I am referring to a vast majority of Gujjus here.”

The user further claimed that such problematic incidents are ‘very rare’ among South Indian communities, prompting a wave of reactions.
