‘Used to work late shifts’, Indian-origin man found dead in Microsoft’s US office

A 35-year-old Indian-origin man was found dead while working at the company’s Silicon Valley campus on August 19.

The friends and family told a free local newspaper that Pandey used to work late-night shifts for an extended period of time.

The cause of the death is yet to be declared by the authorities, and police said there were no signs of “suspicious activity”.

Who was Pratik Pandey?

Born in Indore, Pandey worked as a software engineer at Microsoft in Mountain View, California. He went to the United States a decade ago to get a master’s degree from San Jose State University and California State University

His profile involved working at Apple, Illumina, Walmart Labs, and Microsoft for the past five years.

Pandey’s uncle, Manoj Pandey, told the  local newspaper that he was a jubilant, hard-working, and successful young man. His colleagues and classmates said he was always helpful, and liked playing soccer, ping pong, and cricket.

Friends and family gathered in Fremont on Friday (August 29) for a viewing of Pandey before his remains were sent to India, where his parents and two sisters live. His uncle noted that the viewing holds special significance in their Hindu tradition.
