In what comes as a delightful update for US visa aspirants, the US Mission to India has opened an additional 2,50,000 visa appointments for Indians.

In an official statement, the US Embassy in India notified about these additional appointment slots.

It further adds that travellers, including tourists, skilled workers, and students, could be granted the benefits of these additional appointment slots.

The statement reasoned the announcement of additional slots with the US focused on “bringing families together, connecting businesses, and facilitating tourism.”

The embassy also remarked that “The US Mission to India has already surpassed one million nonimmigrant visa applications for the second consecutive year.”

Mentioning the benefits of these additional slots, the embassy states, “The new slots will help hundreds of thousands of Indian applicants take timely interviews, facilitating travel, which is the backbone of the people-to-people ties that underpin the US-India relationship.”

Notably, Eric Garcetti, the US envoy to India, had revealed earlier this year that President Joe Biden personally directed him to reduce visa wait times in India.
