US deports 200 Indians, including gangster Anmol Bishnoi: Reports

Around 200 Indian nationals have reportedly been deported from the United States in a coordinated operation, including alleged criminal operative Anmol Bishnoi, two fugitives wanted in Punjab, and nearly two hundred undocumented migrants. The chartered flight has left the US and is expected to land at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport at around 10 am on Wednesday, according to officials cited in reports.
Anmol, the younger brother of jailed gang leader Lawrence Bishnoi, is reportedly wanted in several major crime cases, among them the killing of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique and the April 2024 firing incident outside actor Salman Khan’s residence.
According to reports, Anmol is believed to have slipped out of India in April 2022 on a forged passport, just weeks before singer Sidhu Moosewala was shot dead on 29 May that year. He had allegedly been moving between the US and Canada using fraudulent Russian identity documents until authorities traced and detained him.
Investigators have maintained that he continued to run operations for the Bishnoi network from abroad using encrypted communication platforms. Reports indicate that after his detention in California last year, he remained in custody and was later placed under an ankle monitoring device a GPS-based tracker commonly used for individuals under court supervision, house arrest or bail conditions. The device, typically a black strap with a locked tracking module, cannot be removed without authorisation.
The killing of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, 66, in October 2024 outside his son’s Bandra office had led to several arrests linked to the Bishnoi syndicate. The Mumbai crime branch has reportedly stated that Anmol was the primary planner, directing the shooters from overseas through secure channels.
