US city mayor declares Sept 3 as Sanatana Dharma Day

As the country is embroiled in a controversy over the remarks on ‘Sanatan Dharma’, a city in the US declared Sept 3 as ‘Sanatana Dharma’ Day.
Craig Greenberg, the mayor of Louisville, Kentucky made the announcement during the ‘Maha kumbha abhishekam’ ceremony which was held at a Hindu temple in Kentucky from Aug 27 - Sept 3.

The president of Parmarth Niketan in Rishikesh, Chidanand Saraswati, who was one of the attendees at the event, today took to X to share images of the event and said, “A wonderful new chapter in the glorious saga of Indian culture!”
Apart from Saraswati, other spiritual leaders included Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, and Bhagawati Saraswati, along with lieutenant governor Jacqueline Coleman, deputy chief of staff Keisha Dorsey, and several other spiritual leaders and dignitaries also participated in the event.
DMK leader’s derogatory remark row
On Sept 2, DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin, son of Tamil Nadu chief minister M K Stalin, reportedly said, “There are some things that we have to eradicate and we can’t merely oppose. Mosquitoes, dengue fever, malaria, corona, all these are things that we cannot oppose; we have to eradicate them. Sanatanam is also like this.”
An FIR was registered on Sept 6 against Stalin and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s son, Priyank Kharge, for allegedly outraging religious feelings.
