A bizarre comment made on September 9 by a political activist in the US has been subjected to serious flak on social media after she resorted to seemingly racial remarks against the Democratic representative for the US Presidential Elections 2024, Kamala Harris.

Laura Loomer, who openly endorses the Republican candidate Donald Trump in this year’s White House race, posted on her X account, writing, “If @KamalaHarris wins, the White House will smell like curry & White House speeches will be facilitated via a call center and the American people will only be able to convey their feedback through a customer satisfaction survey at the end of the call that nobody will understand.”

The terminology used by Loomer to attack Harris finds its roots in prejudicial stereotypes made against the Indian diaspora abroad.

Speaking on this ordeal, celebrated Trump supporter and Congressperson Marjorie Taylor Greene wrote on X: “This is appalling and extremely racist. It does not represent who we are as Republicans or MAGA. This does not represent President Trump. This type of behavior should not be tolerated ever.”

Greene also asked Loomer to take down her post. Revealing her now discontinued association with Loomer, Greene said, “When it comes to post that are flat out racist, hateful, and make President Trump look bad, she needs to be responsible and delete them.”

Notably, Loomer had reshared a post from the 59-year-old presidential candidate where Kamala Harris was recalling her time in India when she visited her grandparents in her childhood. She mentioned in the post how her grandfather would take her “on his morning walks, where he would discuss the importance of fighting for equality and fighting corruption. He was a retired civil servant who had been part of the movement to win India’s independence.”

Describing the impression of these relics on her, Harris said, “Their commitment to public service and fight for a better future live on in me today.”
