Two Indian-origin students were caught shoplifting in New Jersey’s Hoboken city in the USA on Mar 19, reported media.

The duo, who reportedly hails from Hyderabad, Telangana, and Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, were allegedly caught leaving with 27 items while they had paid only for two of them.

According to media reports, both of them are Indian-origin students relocated to study in the USA.

Upon questioning, one of them claimed to have forgotten to pay for the items while the other said that they did not have enough money on them, reported the media.

Upon the arrest, one of the two women offered to pay double the amount not to get an offence registered. The police stated that they had committed a crime, and the case will be filed. The authorities also indicated that it may affect their H-1B visa (US work visa for foreign employees) process, according to media reports.
