Trump’s new bill hikes student, tourist, H-1B visa charges with $250 security deposit
The US government has introduced a $250 (₹21,435) Visa Integrity Fee under the latest One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which was signed into law on July 4.
The Trump administration has introduced this mandatory fee, effective from 2026, that would apply to ‘any alien issued a non-immigrant visa’ applications including tourist/business (B-1/B-2), student (F/M), work (H-1B), and exchange (J) visas, with exemptions only for diplomatic visa categories (A and G).
Moreover, as per the document of the Bill, $24 (₹2,056) will be charged from “any alien who submits an application for a Form I-94 Arrival/Departure Record.”
Moreover, an electronic system for travel authorisation fee of $13 (₹1,114) will be charged from the applicants.
Therefore, as of now, a US tourist/business visa (B-1/B-2) for Indian applicants costs approximately $185 (₹15,855). However, with the introduction of new surcharges including a $250 Integrity Fee, a $24 I-94 fee, and a $13 ESTA fee the total cost would rise to around $472 (₹40,456), making it nearly two-and-a-half times more expensive than before.
