Trump plans to deport 18,000 Indian nationals, including Gujaratis in first list
As Donald Trump is set to assume the throne of the United States on January 20, 2025, nearly 18,000 undocumented Indian nationals can be sent back to India, suggested the reports.
Data released by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) reportedly stated that around 1.5 million individuals for deportation, including nearly 18,000 undocumented Indian nationals may face deportation in 2025.
The first list of deportation included 17,940 Indians among 1.445 million individuals with final orders of removal, according to media reports.
ICE data reportedly revealed that over the past three years, an average of 90,000 Indians were arrested while attempting to cross US borders illegally.
People from Punjab, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh are likely to be deported from the US, according to an estimate by experts.
The ICE data reportedly suggests that a country in Central America named Honduras tops the list with 2.61 lakh undocumented individuals who have been identified for deportation.
Guatemala is followed by Honduras with 2.53,000 people undocumented. India is among the few Asian countries on the list, alongside China, which has 37,908 undocumented nationals in the US.
Currently, ICE considers 15 countries to be uncooperative including India, Bhutan, Burma, Cuba, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Hong Kong, Iran, Laos, Pakistan, People’s Republic of China, Russia, Somalia, and Venezuela.
