In another tragic death of an Indian abroad, a youth hailing from Telangana’s Karimnagar died stranded in Saudi Arabia’s Empty Quarter desert, also called the ‘Rub al Khali’ desert.

Mohammad Shehzad Khan, 27, had reportedly moved to Saudi three years ago and worked at a telecom company there.

Reports state that Khan and his Sudanese companion ventured into the deadly desert earlier this week.

However, in an unfortunate turn of events, the duo reportedly lost their way as their GPS navigation system malfunctioned.

To add to their woes, Khan’s phone ran out of battery too, and they were unable to contact anyone while stranded in the sweltering heat.

Soon, they ran out of fuel at a desolate location in the desert.

With no food or water on them, Khan and the Sudanese tragically died due to dehydration and exhaustion, state reports.

Thereafter, their bodies were recovered around four days later, on August 22, lying next to their vehicle in the fuming dunes.

The area where their bodies were recovered spans across the southern region of Saudi Arabia, and also includes a significant portion of Oman and Yemen. Areawise, it’s spread across around 6.5 lakh square kilometres.
