A Sikh woman in her 20s, born in Britain, was raped on Tuesday morning in Oldbury, UK. Police have launched an investigation and are treating the attack as racially aggravated.

According to the West Midlands Police official statement, the assault occurred around 8.30 am near Tame Road. The victim reported that two white men attacked her and made racist remarks, which included telling her to go back to her country.

Police described one suspect as heavily built with a shaved head, wearing a dark sweatshirt and gloves. The second man was said to be wearing a grey top with a silver zip.

Chief Superintendent Kim Madill of Sandwell Police said, “We are working really hard to identify those responsible, with CCTV, forensic and other enquiries well under way. We understand the anger and worry this has caused and will be increasing patrols in the area to reassure the community.”

Local Sikh leaders have expressed outrage, calling it a deliberate hate crime. The attack has been strongly condemned by Preet Kaur Gill, MP for Birmingham Edgbaston, who said, “This was not only an extremely violent crime but also racially aggravated. The suspects allegedly told the victim she does not belong here, but the truth is – she does. Our Sikh community, like all communities, has the right to feel safe, respected and valued. Racism and misogyny have no place in Britain.”
