The local Indian community has started raising voices against this abuse of immigrants who work as labourers in Italian fields. In Latin Rome, there is a rural area where thousands of displaced Indian labourers are staying.
Satnam Singh, one such worker hailing from Punjab, was left on the roadside by his employer without any assistance or medical attention. Singh later succumbed to his injuries in a hospital on June 19.
After Satnam Singh’s death, Italian Prime Minister Georgio Meloni had strongly condemned Singh’s death during a Cabinet meeting.
