Over 1500 Indians deported by USA in FY 2024 by Biden govt, more than Trump
In one of his speeches, US President-elect Donald Trump had said before election results that “all across our nation I make this pledge and vow to you. November, 5, 2024, will be Liberation Day in America, (there) will be liberation” from what he said was “the occupation” of the country.
However, the numbers from Financial Year 2024 (October 1 to September 30 in USA), indicate that the outgoing President, Joe Biden’s government has also been strict on illegal immigration in the USA.
In FY2024, the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) deported over 2,70,000 immigrants, including 1,529 Indians, as per reports.
The data from ICE states that it detained over 2,600 Indians this year, only after Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala. According to reports, an ICE list contains a list of 18,000 undocumented Indians.
The interesting contradiction is, that the highest number of deportations by the Trump administration was 2,67,000 in his first term, however, in FY2024, the Biden administration deported over 2,71,000 illegal immigrants.
According to the Customs and Border Protection agency, till August as many as 82,610 Indian citizens were recorded crossing the borders illegally and 96,917 last year.
