In yet another land scam in Gujarat, Navsari Rural Police filed a complaint against five individuals and arrested two for creating fake documents of NRI owners.

The government had acquired private land for the Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway, paying compensation to all the owners.

A complaint was filed at Navsari Rural Police Station by Bharat Patel, a farmer residing in Navsari district who has Power Of Attorney (POA) of the NRI’s land.

In his complaint, he stated that the government acquired land with block survey number 257, measuring 2,295 sq metres, in Sarpor village to construct the Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway.

Since the original owners of this land had settled abroad, Patel was appointed as their POA to oversee and manage their land.

As the compensation for the land acquisition was deemed insufficient, Patel, along with others, had applied for higher compensation.

Meanwhile, the immediate Prant Office had transferred ₹86.12 lakh to NRI’s bank account. To Patel’s surprise, it was revealed that this amount was withdrawn from NRI’s bank account.

Patel obtained all the information through RTI (Right to Information) which further exposed the whole scam.

It was revealed that a fake Aadhaar card, fake certificate, and fake affidavit in the name of the original owner of the land, a bogus person was created, a fake bank account was opened, and ₹86.12 lakh was siphoned off.

Regarding this incident, Patel filed a complaint with Navsari Rural Police against Shirish Ahi, Dipak Patel, Sandeep Patel, Ishwarlal Patel, and Kanaiya Tailor.

The police arrested two individuals involved in the fraud.
