NRI arrested with 15 bullets from Amritsar airport

A Non-Resident Indian (NRI) was arrested with 15 cartridges in his bag at the international airport in Amritsar on September 14, reported the media.

Amardeep Singh, a US-return (New Jersey), visited his village in Gurdaspur district a few months back, according to reports.

On his way back to New Jersey, his luggage was checked before the flight at Sri Guru Ramdas International Airport and CISF personnel reportedly recovered 15 nos of 9mm bullets from his handbag.

An FIR was filed under Sections 25/24/59 of the Arms Act against the NRI, according to the reports.

Shortly after his arrest, Singh experienced medical complications and was promptly admitted to the hospital. He will be taken into police custody once discharged.
