Nothing CEO Carl Pei’s ‘hot take’ on Indian food divides internet

London-based consumer electronics brand Nothing CEO and co-founder Carl Pei on X posted his hot take on Indian food, saying Indian food in London tastes better than Indian food in India.
Naturally, what followed was a slew of dividing responses, with many asking for recommendations in London for Indian food, while many opposing his opinion.
“Bukhara in New Delhi is better than anything you find in London,” said one user.
Another user simply said, “Real take: there’s nothing Indian about Indian food in London.”
“Because only food you try in India is at Soho House,” jibed another.
To his credit, Pei responded that best Indian food he had in India was a roadside biryani.
One user went on to school the Nothing co-founder, saying,
“Indian Food 101 – There is nothing called “Indian” food – India has
> ~ 8–10 cuisine based on region
> ~25–30 cuisine based on state
> 100+ cuisines based on community, religion, and local/seasonal produce.”
This is not Carl Pei’s first interaction on X related to India.
Before this, in February 2024, Pei had suggested Tesla CEO Elon Musk to change his name to 'Elon Bhai' on X.
In a post on X, Pei tagged Musk and suggested him to change his username to 'Elon Bhai' in order to build a Tesla factory in India.
“@elonmusk did you really think you could build a Tesla factory in India without changing your username to Elon Bhai?,” Pei wrote.
Pei had also changed his name to 'Carl Bhai' on X at that time.
Since being shared, the post was viewed over 800K times and received over 12K likes.
Responding to Pie’s tweet, a user commented, “Elon bro is so popular in India, if he contests elections from India his win is sure shot guaranteed”.
“It's time to become Elon Bhai @elonmusk,” another user wrote.
One more user said, “You are the Bhai, he will be the Mamu”.
